The Pavan TP-30 embodies the vision I had when I founded Pavan Guitars. I wanted to offer an exceptional concert-quality guitar at an honest and accessible price point, offering guitarists an alternative to my pricier concert hand-built guitars.

The soundboards of the Pavan TP-30 Spruce classical guitars are crafted in the custom shop by a select group of skilled and experienced guitar builders, each specializing in the art of soundboard construction. Each top is hand thickness'd and the top braces meticulously carved, resulting in a highly responsive instrument.

Spruce soundboards are celebrated for their clear tone and distinct voice separation. This stems from their tendency to emphasize the primary octave overtone, above the fundamental note played. For example, when playing a G, the G, one octave above in the overtone series will be stronger than other partials. This clarity of spruce is particularly well-suited for music with complex contrapuntal or multiple voices, such as compositions by JS Bach. Guitarists play both spruce and cedar based on personal preference. I recommend listening to the provided videos/sound samples.

The soundboards of the Pavan TP-30 are built in a custom shop by skilled guitar makers specializing in handcrafting each soundboard. The soundboard is left thicker in the bridge area of the lower bout and gradually gets thinner towards the sides. Employing a bracing pattern of a treble bar and 6-fan braces, this design produces a solid, clear, well-balanced tone with remarkable responsiveness and beautiful tonal variety. This guitar embodies the vision I had when founding Pavan Guitars: providing an outstanding recital-quality instrument at a reasonable and accessible price for guitarists seeking an alternative to my pricier concert hand-built guitars.

When classical guitarists come to my shop to try out the Spanish guitars, they are often impressed with the Pavan TP-20 models but ultimately choose the Pavan TP-30 guitar. Even slight variations in sound can greatly influence experienced players.

Currently, I don't offer classical guitars priced higher than the Pavan TP-30 models. If I were to introduce a higher-priced model, it wouldn't deliver superior sound to the TP-30. Only a guitar crafted by an exceptionally experienced luthier might surpass it. And I speak from experience—I am both a luthier and a skilled classical guitarist.
