Pavan TP-30-64 Spruce

$1,975.00

The Pavan TP-30-64 is for players wanting a shorter string scale classical guitar. For players with small hands playing on a guitar that has a 650mm scale length/52mm nut width can be difficult. Some players prefer a shorter string length just because the guitars are easier to play. The Pavan TP-30-64 comes with a 640mm string length and a 50mm nut width. In all other respects, it is the same as the TP-30 Spruce.

Spruce soundboards are known for their clarity of tone and voice separation. This is because spruce tends to bring out the primary octave overtone, above the fundamental note you play. For example, if you play a G, the G, one octave above in the overtone series will be stronger than other partials. The clarity of spruce lends itself well to “contrapuntal/multiple voice counterpoint” music such as JS Bach. Guitarists have the option to choose between spruce and cedar for their instruments, with personal preference being the guiding factor. Take a listen to the various sound samples to explore which one resonates more with you.

In the custom workshop, skilled guitar craftsmen handcraft each soundboard of the Pavan TP-30. The soundboard is intentionally constructed with varying thickness, with a thicker build around the bridge area of the lower bout, gradually tapering to thinner sections towards the sides. This design, coupled with a unique bracing pattern featuring a treble bar and 6-fan braces, produces a tone that is robust, clear, and evenly balanced. The guitar's responsiveness and tonal versatility are exceptional, offering a wide range of expressive possibilities.

When classical guitar enthusiasts visit my shop to explore our Spanish guitar collection, they often find themselves drawn to the Pavan TP-20 models, impressed by their quality. However, upon testing the Pavan TP-30, they are captivated by its subtle yet significant tonal distinctions. This discerning audience ultimately chooses the TP-30 for its superior sound quality and nuanced tonal characteristics.

At present, I do not offer classical guitars priced above the TP-30 models. I firmly believe that any guitar priced higher would not surpass the TP-30's sound quality. Only a guitar crafted by a highly skilled and experienced luthier could potentially offer a superior tonal experience. As both a luthier and a seasoned classical guitarist, I speak from firsthand knowledge and experience in this matter.
